We often do or say things we imagine others would want us to do or to say just for the sake of being liked and accepted, instead of doing and being our authentic self. Inevitably this leads to long-term pain, frustration and disappointment.
Have you ever considered why?
It’s like the old saying of “respect can’t be forced, but earned”. If you respect yourself and others, you will be respected by others. When you act from a place of authenticity, people will respect you even more and actually want to be in your presence.
If you want other people to like, accept and love you, you need to do it first for yourself by accepting yourself and embracing ALL parts of yourself. Yes, even those parts (usually only through your own eyes) you call imperfect.
Fall in love with the uniquely created you FIRST. There is nothing wrong with self-love and thinking the best of yourself. It only becomes a “problem” when you think that you are better than others.
📷 throwback to our visit last year at @orchid_farmstall with my dear (and always smiling no matter what life throws at her) friend, Urna. She is also the owner of the beautiful farmstall just outside Nelspruit. Make sure to pay them a visit when in the area!
